The Crew Sunflower - Birak Roller Skate is a tribute to one of the six seasons on Noongar Boodja country, a season close to skater Chitty’s heart as it represents her birth season. Unlike standard seasons, Indigenous seasons like Birak—marked by changes in weather, plants, and animal behaviour, celebrated through this vibrant design.
Birak, the first summer, is a hot, dry period symbolizing the season of youth, where young animals leave the nest to explore the world. This spirit of adventure and freedom reflects the joy of skating, reminding us to embrace life with a young heart.
The colours of Birak are captured in the sunflower yellow suede and coral pink laces and eyelets, exuding warmth and energy. Inside, you’ll find a custom lining designed by Kamsani Bin-Salleh (@Kambarni), a renowned Nimunburr/Yawuru/Ballardong artist from Perth, whose abstract interpretation of the Noongar season adds an artistic touch inspired by the natural world.
